Tambest Oy is known internationally as a supplier of extremely high-quality and challenging curved glass solutions. Thanks to our excellence, the optical distortions of curved glasses are extremely low. The optical quality is checked visually. The goal is an undistorted reflection image.

There is no harmonised testing method for curved glasses. However, the products are manufactured according to the standard SFS-ISO 11485.

Tempered or heat-treated

Our product range of tempered curved safety glass is the most versatile on the market. The strength of tempered glass is more than three times that of untreated glass. The need for larger curved glass surfaces, concealed fixings and structures applied without casement and framework is often the starting point of the design. Due to better durability, safety and large glass sizes, tempered curved safety glass is the most reasonable option in these challenging structures.

The safety characteristics of tempered glass are emphasised also when the glass breaks, in which case it breaks into small fragments without causing bigger wounds when coming into contact with the skin.

The Probender bending tempering furnace also enables the production of curved and heat-treated glass with optically top quality. Compared to tempered glass, heat-strengthened glass is not as strong and breaks into larger, sharper shards when broken. We always manufacture heat-strengthened glass laminated.

Laminated curved

Curved laminated safety glass protects against personal injury; in the lowest protection class from falling and in the highest class from bullets and pressure waves caused by explosions. In addition to the protection class, the glass’s size, bending angle and shape affect the resistance rating of the glass. By increasing the number of glass layers and films, we can build multi-layer glasses for various demanding protection needs.

Laminated tempered or laminated and heat-treated

Curved laminated glass is also available as laminated tempered glass, which simultaneously achieves the mechanical resistance and tolerance of temperature differences of tempered safety glass, as well as the shard-binding properties of laminated safety glass. In addition to this, we manufacture laminated heat-treated glass, so that when the glass breaks, it breaks into larger pieces.

Curved insulating glass

Insulating glass is an element in which two or more glasses are hermetically connected to each other. The gap between the glasses is filled with either air or argon gas, depending on the desired U-value. In curved insulating glasses, several different structures are possible. Different structures achieve several protective properties, such as sun protection, heat and sound insulation, and burglary protection.

Curved insulating glass can be constructed from different types of glass and thus achieve several protection properties, such as sun protection, heat insulation, sound insulation, security, bird collision prevention, bullet and burglary protection. The glasses can also be equipped with PDLC films. The maximum dimensions of insulating glass that can be manufactured depend on the desired bending shape and the glass types to be used. Dimensions and thicknesses are defined on a case-by-case basis.
